Kathmandu, March 30 — Deepak Khadka, the former minister of energy, has been taken to the TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj following his arrest related to a money laundering investigation.

He was hospitalized following the emergence of medical issues, according to authorities.

The Central Investigation Bureau took Khadka into custody from Budhanilkantha on Sunday. After his arrest, he was transferred to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation for additional investigation, stated Additional Inspector General Manoj KC.

A representative from the department mentioned that Khadka was hospitalized following a medical examination.

Department Head Jitendra Adhikari mentioned that a seven-day extension has been obtained from the court, with additional inquiries being conducted. “Since we lack detention facilities, we transferred him to the police,” he stated.

The department is still conducting its inquiry, with the CIB providing support in technical areas.
