A fire occurred approximately at 8:09 p.m. on the 30th at a distribution facility located in Maesan-dong, Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province.
No injuries were mentioned as a result of the fire, although the flames partially reached adjacent structures and a slope.
Authorities activated Response Level 1 at approximately 8:31 p.m. on the same day, sending more than 30 equipment units, including water tankers, along with about 70 firefighters to tackle the fire. Response Level 1 requires assembling all staff and resources available at the local fire station.
Gwangju City issued a disaster warning at approximately 8:51 PM, advising nearby residents to remain vigilant.
The facility where the fire took place is a one-level reinforced concrete building covering about 900 square meters, made up of five sections. A public cemetery is situated on the other side of the secondary road from the location.
Law enforcement and emergency services intend to examine the full extent of the destruction and determine the origin of the fire once the blaze is completely under control.
