Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has formally restarted its non-stop flights to London following a six-year hiatus, as the inaugural journey left Islamabad on Sunday.

The restart was marked at Islamabad International Airport by Defence Secretary Muhammad Ali and British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott.

At the event, Jane Marriott expressed approval of the decision, referring to it as a favorable step and expressing optimism that flights from Karachi would restart soon. She mentioned the significant Pakistani population in the United Kingdom and stated that the renewed route signifies improved relations between the two nations.

The Minister of Defence referred to the advancement as a major achievement for Pakistan’s aerospace industry, emphasizing the historical link between PIA and London that had been halted for six years. He voiced his approval regarding the resumption of the route.

He also highlighted that robust commercial ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom would be strengthened by enhanced air links, while commending the work of PIA and the Civil Aviation Authority in enabling the restart.
