A man has faced murder charges after it is claimed he stabbed his father to death following an extended period of drinking.

Evan Clark, 30, was taken into custody following the discovery of his father John Clark, 58, who had sustained several stab injuries to his upper body at a residence inSydney‘s west. 

Emergency responders arrived at a residence on Clouta Place in Emu Plains around 6:45 pm on Thursday but were unable to save the elderly man.

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody on the spot and transported to Penrith Police Station, where he faced one charge of murder connected to domestic violence.

Police are expected to claim that the two individuals had been consuming a significant amount of alcohol prior to the alleged incident, theDaily Telegraph reports. 

Clark was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in a bail hearing on Friday.
