The Iranian armed forces stated that the U.S. mission to rescue two American pilots who were stuck had been “entirely unsuccessful.”
The declaration followed the US PresidentDonald Trumpstated on Sunday that the officer had been recovered during a search and rescue mission and was ‘SAFE AND SOUND’.
“A so-called U.S. military rescue operation, designed as a trick and getaway mission at a deserted airport in southern Isfahan under the excuse of retrieving the pilot of a shot-down plane, was entirely ruined,” stated Ebrahim Zolfaghari, the spokesperson for the military’s central command, Khatam Al-Anbiya.
In a video message broadcast by state-run television, he stated that “two C-130 military transport planes and two Black Hawk helicopters were destroyed” throughout the two-day mission. The United States has not verified this claim.
He mentioned that Trump proceeded with “empty rhetoric and distraction,” despite the reality on the ground showing the stronger position ofIran‘s powerful armed forces.’
It followed US special forces being forced to destroy two of their own aircraft as they carried out a daring mission to rescue an airman stranded behind enemy territory.
The pilot, along with an airman, was in an F-15 fighter jet that was brought down in a secluded part of Iran on Friday.
The pilot had safely escaped and was picked up by two military helicopters on the same day, but the second crew member was still unaccounted for.

A crew member who President Trump described as a highly regarded Colonel managed to avoid Iranian forces for nearly two days, with Reaper drones above ensuring his safety.
Equipped with just a pistol for protection and wounded after being ejected from the F-15, the Colonel concealed himself from threats before taking a bold sprint to the rescue location.
The intricate operation to save lives included hundreds of elite military personnel, as well as a number of warplanes and helicopters.
A clash erupted on the ground as Iranian troops approached the injured colonel.
While carrying out the extraction, two of the five rescue aircraft became trapped at a remote airfield in Iran and were destroyed by special forces to prevent them from falling into enemy hands.
President Donald Trump highlighted the operation late Saturday night, calling it “one of the most courageous Search and Rescue Missions in US History.”
Iranian troops were misled when the CIA circulated information stating that American forces had already located the colonel.
The captain had to conceal himself and avoid being caught for an agonizing 36 hours far within Iranian territory, in difficult and unforgiving conditions.
As reported by Axios, the colonel was injured while ejecting from the F-15 aircraft but stayed active as he concealed himself in the mountains.
After two US planes were shot down on Friday, Iran offered a $60,000 reward for the capture of the US pilots, promising to retaliate against American military forces in the ongoing conflict.
Prior to the rescue operation, the official X account of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, shared distressing new photographs of the damaged F-15E aircraft, along with a mocking message.
“The hidden combat aircraft that now has no way to flee and must remain beneath the aerospace warriors,” the embassy stated.
The very same stealthy giant, about which they crafted stories for years, is now a heap of scrap metal lying on the ground – this is the technology they once asserted was invisible and impenetrable,” it stated. “But now it has been spotted and destroyed.

Bombs and arms were launched from American military aircraft to prevent Iranian soldiers from approaching the stranded colonel.
At one stage, he climbed to approximately 7,000 feet while trying to escape from Iranian troops.
As American troops approached the trapped soldier, a battle erupted with Iranian forces.
Three aircraft engaged in a rescue operation departed from Iran towards Kuwait, with the task being finished just before midnight.
President Trump stated that the colonel was hurt but will be ‘all right,’ as he rejoiced in securing a win after nearly losing.
Trump stated that this marked the first instance in military history where two U.S. pilots were rescued individually from deep within enemy territory, as he firmly declared that no American service member would ever be abandoned.
He mentioned that numerous aircraft equipped with “the deadliest weapons in the world” were dispatched by the U.S. military to extract him following continuous surveillance of his location “around the clock, and carefully preparing for his rescue.”
“This courageous soldier was deep within enemy territory in the dangerous mountains of Iran, pursued by our adversaries who were closing in with each passing hour,” Trump mentioned in a post on Truth Social.
State media published pictures on Sunday showing burned debris spread out over a desert region, with smoke still visible from the location.
Each of the three images revealed the remnants of the aircraft: a shapeless pile of charred wreckage spread out over a large, open area of land.
On Friday, a video also captured Iranian gunfire targeting a Black Hawk helicopter, which was believed to be part of the effort to locate the missing F-15 crew.

It followed Trump’s earlier statement on Truth Social that U.S. forces had ‘eliminated’ multiple Iranian military officials, accompanied by video footage seemingly depicting an airstrike targeting senior IRGC commanders.
Iranian media stated that five individuals were killed in the southwest during the rescue operation due to strikes, but it remained unclear at first if they were civilians or military personnel.
However, Trump boasted that both operations ended “without a single American killed, or even injured.”
The news of the rescue was released as Iran initiated missile and drone attacks against Israel and Kuwait on Sunday morning, a day after Trump warned the Islamic Republic that it had 48 hours to reach an agreement or encounter ‘all Hell’.
The President mentioned an ultimatum he issued on March 26, stating: ‘Recall when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will be unleashed (sic) upon them.’
Iran’s main military authority dismissed the ultimatum, with General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi describing Trump’s threat as a ‘powerless, anxious, unstable, and foolish move’.
Repeating Trump’s rhetoric, he cautioned that ‘the gates of hell will open for you’.
Pakistan has proposed to act as a mediator in attempts to conclude the conflict, and as reported by Iranian media, Pakistan’s foreign minister held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Saturday.
Nevertheless, there was no indication of a decrease in the violence, with Kuwait and Israel stating that their air defense systems were reacting on Sunday to the most recent strikes from Iran.
The United Arab Emirates mentioned that its air defenses were countering missile strikes, which Tehran claimed were aimed at the nation’s aluminum sector, while Bahrain authorities reported a fire at a refinery “due to Iranian aggression.”
