A fire started in an SUV that was parked on the shoulder near the Mokpo-bound exit of the Iljik Junction (JC) on the Seohaean Expressway in Sohadong, Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province, around 8:05 p.m. on the 5th.

Fire officials stated that all three people inside, including the driver, escaped without harm, leading to no injuries. The fire, which fully consumed the vehicle, was put out around 8:38 p.m., about 30 minutes after it started.

The SUV driver reportedly told fire officials, “While driving, I encountered a vehicle failure and pulled over to the side, after which the fire started.”

Law enforcement and emergency services are examining the specific reason for the fire, relying on the driver’s account and additional clues.

A fire authority figure stated, “The vehicle in question was found to be a diesel-powered one,” and mentioned, “The precise reason for the fire is still being looked into.”
