IranA recent intelligence report states that the country’s new Supreme Leader is “unconscious” and currently unable to govern.

An evaluation presumed to be grounded in American andIsraeliIntelligence reports indicate that Mojtaba Khamenei is receiving treatment for a ‘serious’ health issue in the religious city of Qom.

Khamenei, aged 56, has remained out of the public eye since he became Supreme Leader following his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of the conflict.

The government previously stated that he had suffered a ‘minor’ leg injury during the attack that resulted in the death of his father — along with his mother, wife, and one of his sons — but has never clarified why he has been missing.

But the new diplomatic memorandum, circulated among Gulf allies and viewed byThe Times, implies that he is in a significantly more vulnerable state than previously believed.

It states: “Mojtaba Khamenei is receiving treatment in Qom in a critical state, and is not capable of participating in any decision-making processes within the regime.”

It is uncertain whether he has been unconscious since sustaining his injury on the first day of the war, or if he suffered another injury at a later time.

This is the first time details about his location inside Iran have been disclosed since he became Supreme Leader, although it is known that American and Israeli intelligence have possessed this information for a while.

Qom is regarded as the religious center of the nation, with intelligence reports indicating that Ali Khamenei’s body is also located there, prepared for interment.

The memorandum states that efforts are currently underway in the city to “construct a large tomb” capable of accommodating “more than one burial,” indicating that family members might be interred together with the late Supreme Leader.

A state funeral for Ali Khamenei had been delayed earlier, with the government stating that they were expecting an extraordinary number of attendees.

Two statements have been ascribed to the younger Khamenei since he assumed leadership, yet both were announced on state television by announcers.

The state channel released a video on Monday claiming to depict the leader entering a war room and examining a map of an Israeli nuclear power plant, but this has been verified as computer-generated.

Opposition factions have previously alleged that Khamenei is in a state of unconsciousness, and so far, there has been no proof to refute this claim.

President Trump has stated that he is in talks with Iranian officials, but has made it clear that he is not referring to the supreme leader.

Last month, it was disclosed that Mojtaba Khamenei narrowly avoided death during the attacks on his father’s residence in Tehran, as he had left the area just before the strikes occurred.

Mazaher Hosseini, the protocol chief under the regime, informed senior religious leaders and commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that Mojtaba Khamenei sustained a leg injury.

A leaked audio recording stated: “It was God’s will that Mojtaba had to go to the yard to do something and then come back.”

He was outside and on his way up the stairs when the building was hit by a missile. His wife, Ms. Haddad, was killed immediately.
