Trump tweeted on Truth Social, “I agree to pause the bombing and attacks on Iran for a two-week period,” following earlier concerns that he had raised apocalyptic fears by warning he would destroy Iran’s “entire civilization” if they didn’t reopen the Strait.
The President stated that following discussions with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he had received assurance that Iran would agree to the full, immediate, and secure reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
This will be a two-sided ceasefire,” Trump wrote. “The rationale for this is that we have already achieved and surpassed all military goals, and are significantly advanced in a final agreement regarding long-term peace with Iran.

The 10-point strategy released by the state-owned Tasnim news agency outlines Iran’s requirements, including the United States acknowledging Tehran’s ongoing authority in the Strait, accepting its entitlement to enrich uranium, removing all sanctions, providing financial compensation, and withdrawing all military forces from the area.
Trump also shared a statement from Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, which declared safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz under specific conditions.
“If hostilities against Iran are stopped, our Strong Military will stop their defensive actions,” said Abbas Araghchi.
For a duration of fourteen days, secure movement through the Strait of Hormuz will be feasible through cooperation with Iran’s Military Forces.
Iranian authorities stated that the ceasefire was endorsed by the new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, even though intelligence reports indicate he is in a coma.
Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, affirmed the ceasefire and stated that ‘safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be feasible’ over the two-week span.
Trump stated that the 10-point plan “is a viable foundation for discussion,” even though he previously mentioned on Monday that the agreement was not “sufficient.”

The President has consistently emphasized that the goals of the conflict are to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, stop its allies from interfering in Middle Eastern nations, and dismantle Iran’s naval forces, drones, and ballistic missile systems.

The President chose not to address the 10-point strategy on Tuesday morning, stating to Fox News: ‘I am unable to comment at this time as we are currently engaged in intense discussions.’
Trump mentioned during a White House press briefing on Monday that the proposal was a “major move,” but he also stated that it is “not sufficient.”
Sharif had urged both Trump and the Iranian government to agree to a two-week truce before the President eventually gave in.
“To give diplomacy a chance to proceed, I sincerely ask President Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks. Pakistan, with genuine intent, requests the Iranian brothers to open the Strait of Hormuz for a similar period of two weeks as a gesture of goodwill,” Sharif stated on Tuesday afternoon.
