KentuckyCheerleader Laken Snelling has entered a not guilty plea in court regarding manslaughter charges, with prosecutors alleging she killed her newborn child and concealed its body in her closet.

Snelling, 22, was taken into custody in August 2025 following reports that authorities discovered a newborn baby wrapped in a blood-stained towel and placed inside a garbage bag in her dorm room at the University of Kentucky.

The cheerleader was first charged with desecrating a corpse, altering evidence, and hiding the birth of a child, and she denied these allegations in September.

She was subsequently charged again in March 2026 with first-degree manslaughter, according to prosecutors who claimed she suffocated the baby in a moment of panic following an illegal childbirth.

In court on Friday, Snelling entered a not guilty plea regarding the new charges. Her pretrial hearing is scheduled for May 14, with a status update set for June 12.
