Lundberg Family Farms revealed therecallof its Lundberg Organic Jasmine White Rice following notification of possible contamination.
The rice was distributed across the country in 2lb purple packages featuring a USDA Organic emblem on the front, along with a picture of a sun and a plant.
The items were also available in other prominent retailers, includingWalmartand Target, and feature best-by dates as late as February 2027.
The company based in California stated that it was aClass II recall, suggesting a scenario in which a product could lead to ‘short-term or treatable negative health effects’ or where the chance of a severe reaction is ‘very low.’
No health issues or injuries associated with the rice have been reported so far.
It remained uncertain what led to the pollution or what the specific foreign substance was.
Consumers have been advised not to eat the rice and to either dispose of it right away or take it back to retailers for a complete refund.

The recall was initially disclosed last Saturday by Wegmans on their website. Lundberg Farms verified the recall to news organizations.
No announcement on the FDA’s official website or in any enforcement document has been made.
The rice that was recalled carries the product code 073416-040281. It also includes the batch codes 260201 or 260202.
It remained uncertain how the presence of foreign substances was identified.
In earlier instances, the material was identified following a customer report after using the product or when inspectors observed a problem at the factory.
The presence of foreign objects can present a risk of suffocation or lead to internal harm, depending on the size and type of the contaminant.
Jasmine rice is a type of long-grain rice known for its subtly adhesive consistency.
Rice is frequently served alongside Southeast Asian meals, stir-fried dishes, and as a substitute for long-grain white rice.
Rice is not much more nutritious than regular white rice, but health professionals recommend choosing brown rice to gain additional nutrients.
On average, Americans eat approximately 20 pounds of rice annually, as reported.
