A British tourist was fatally injured when a sightseeing bus crashed into a valley on the Canary Island of La Gomera, resulting in numerous others being hurt.
The accident occurred around 1:30 pm on the GM-2 highway near San Sebastian, prompting emergency services, including helicopters, to rush to the location.
Travelers became stuck inside the debris and needed to be rescued by fire department personnel, who also stabilized the bus to prevent it from moving further into the valley.
The car had 28 British visitors and a driver when the accident occurred.
Authorities verified that a British national lost his life and at least 27 individuals were hurt, with three of them sustaining severe injuries.
The bus veered off a steep mountain road close to a tunnel and a sharp hairpin curve located above rugged landscape.
It is reported that a brake malfunction could be responsible for the accident.

The topography of the area has made rescue efforts more challenging, leading the Civil Protection, Environment department of the Cabildo de La Gomera, and the Volunteer Firefighters to stabilize the vehicle’s structure to avoid additional movement.
