Donald Trump was ready to fire Tulsi Gabbarduntil his most senior political advisor, Roger Stone, contacted him.
The President had become impatient with his senior intelligence official due to her absence of excitement regarding hisIran war during Congressional testimony, according to Axios.
Trump ‘reprimanded’ Gabbard during a private meeting and raised doubts about her allegiance, according to sources. Some suggested he was mocking her in a sarcastic manner instead of directly attacking her.
The leader went as far as consulting his Cabinet about whether he should dismiss Gabbard following her weak performance onCapitol Hill.
Last week, Trump appeared to be prepared to fire the director of national intelligence until Stone became involved.
“Roger finalized the agreement. He rescued Tulsi,” said a source connected to Trump.
Stone, 73, did not provide a statement when contacted by the Daily Mail. He has served as a friend and key political advisor to Trump since 1979.
He presented four arguments against Trump dismissing Gabbard, stating she had shown loyalty, maintained composure during congressional questioning, and never openly challenged the President.

Stone cautioned that dismissing her could lead to an avoidable and harmful media storm. He contended that she would be seen as a martyr by parts of Trump’s supporters who are already discontent with the conflict.
He warned that this action might also enhance her reputation among MAGA skeptics, possibly placing her as a viable Republican presidential candidate within a year.
Stone informed Trump that it would make JD Vance’s campaign more challenging in early 2028 primary states such as New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Trump has also become more annoyed with Gabbard in recent weeks over the departure of her deputy, Joe Kent.
Kent resigned last month following allegations that Israel had deceived the President regarding the necessity of attacking Iran.
Gabbard further upset Trump by not denouncing Kent during her congressional hearing.
Stone raised these issues during his call with Trump, emphasizing that, unlike Kent, Gabbard had no plan to step down and wasn’t deserving of an early removal.
Even though Stone did not respond to the Axios report, he verifiedOn Thursday on X, he stated that he intervened on Gabbard’s behalf: ‘Fortunately, I acted in time.’

The White House chose not to comment on Stone’s final attempt to rescue Gabbard’s campaign.
“President Trump thinks Tulsi Gabbard is performing very well for the administration. She is a vital part of his national security team,” Leavitt stated.
A representative for Gabbard stated that she “remains dedicated to carrying out the duties the President assigned her to ensure the safety, security, and freedom of the American people. She will keep working hard to support President Trump’s initiatives.”
