Pakistan, April 17 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed approval of the Lebanon ceasefire and reiterated Pakistan’s backing for its independence. He mentioned that diplomatic initiatives led by Donald Trump contributed to achieving the deal and easing hostilities. This event is significant as it influences stability throughout the Middle East and affects millions in both Lebanon and Israel.

Sharif viewed the ceasefire as a constructive move towards long-term regional peace. He highlighted that Pakistan backs all diplomatic initiatives aimed at avoiding additional hostilities. Additionally, he restated Pakistan’s dedication to Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence.

As per authorities, the truce comes after previous steps aimed at reducing tensions with Iran. This overall decrease in conflict paved the way for discussions between Lebanon and Israel. Consequently, both parties decided to halt hostilities for a period of ten days.

Trump mentioned that he had a conversation with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He stated that both leaders agreed to the temporary truce proposal. Additionally, he conveyed his wish to prolong the deal provided the situation remains steady.
