…States President requires backing to maintain the New Hope Initiative
The Secretary to the Federal Government, Senator George Akume, has urged stakeholders, party supporters, and Nigerians to unite in backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election, emphasizing that the government’s reforms and development programs need ongoing support to meet long-term national goals.
Akume placed the call on Saturday as he spoke to All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates, participants, and supporters during the party’s presidential primary events in Wanune, Makurdi South, and Makurdi Central within Benue State.
The SGF, who was welcomed by large groups at various locations, called on party members to rally backing for President Tinubu before the election, emphasizing that Nigerians should not be influenced by opponents of the government.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated bravery and dedication in enacting policies and reforms designed to create a more robust and resilient country. This is an era that demands support, collaboration, and shared objectives from all involved parties,” Akume said.
He mentioned that the administration’s New Hope Agenda is establishing the groundwork for national change, noting that sustained backing would allow the President to build upon existing initiatives and provide more advantages to Nigerians.
Commenting on educational reforms, Akume referred to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a key project of the government, stating that the program was among the pioneering ones in Africa.
He pointed out that the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s dedication to increasing access to high-quality education and providing opportunities for students throughout the nation.
He stated that the program is designed to guarantee that no Nigerian student is deprived of educational chances because of financial issues.
Additionally, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado addressed the event in Makurdi Central, stating that the meeting was held to gather backing for President Tinubu’s success at the APC presidential primary and his subsequent win in the election.
He guaranteed the SGF and the President of ongoing backing from party members in the state, vowing their dedication to the New Hope Initiative.
