The former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, on Saturday once again expressed his backing for President Bola Tinubu in preparation for the 2027 national elections.

He stated that members of the All Progressives Congress throughout the nation backed the President’s goal of a second term.

Amosun announced his statement during the APC presidential primary event at Ward 6, Itoko, Abeokuta, where numerous party supporters attended to take part in the proceedings.

After voting, the former governor spoke with journalists, referring to the event as a significant opportunity for party members to openly express their commitment to President Tinubu and the APC.

“Today is for the President, and we all need to come out to show and demonstrate that we support the President, we back the APC, and that’s why I’m here,” Amosun stated.

He stated that party stakeholders had already agreed to back the President’s re-election, pointing out that the process was merely a reaffirmation of an ongoing agreement among party members across the country.

“You are aware that we have already carried out the one for the governor, so all of us are aligned, and we have all adopted this stance. Therefore, it is merely to confirm what we have already done, and that is what occurred. Today, everyone in Nigeria, not only here but in every ward across Nigeria, is doing this, and we must come here to take part and contribute as well,” he added.

Amosun also praised party followers for what he termed their calm behavior and active involvement, noting that the high attendance demonstrated increasing support for the President among Nigerians.

“I am pleased with our people. You can observe their high level of excitement and willingness to participate in what is happening. I am content with the process, and you can see how many people turned up. Look at the crowd on the ground; they have come to demonstrate support for our President,” he said.

The former governor added that the disciplined behavior of party supporters during the event demonstrated solidarity within the APC, emphasizing that members were expressing a unified stance on the President’s re-election in 2027.

“We are organized and that is how it should be. All of us are expressing ourselves in unison, without any disagreement. Everyone has agreed that yes, we want our President to come back,” Amosun added.

Additionally, the representative from Abeokuta South, Afolabi Afuape, characterized the participation as a clear sign of backing for President Tinubu and thanked party members in Ward 6 for engaging in the process in a peaceful manner.

Afuape stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to the residents of Ward 6 for turning up to vote for the nation’s hope, which is President Bola Tinubu.”

As everyone can see, this demonstrates acceptance, and we are all in agreement. I would also like to thank the former Governor Ibikunle Amosun for taking part in this process for the first time, which is also a positive sign that the President is embraced by everyone.

He mentioned that the large number of supporters present further highlighted unity with the President and trust in his leadership as the next general election approaches.
