Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has refuted rumors about the potential 2027 presidential aspirations of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, stating that no opposition figure can prevent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from achieving a decisive win in the upcoming election.
The governor, who spoke soon after taking part in the presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his polling station in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, maintained that the ruling party is strongly positioned for success in 2027.

Namadi stated that the APC was not affected by rumors connecting Jonathan to a potential comeback in presidential politics through the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that Nigerians have already demonstrated strong backing for President Tinubu.
“This represents democracy. Anyone is allowed to run, but when Nigerians make their choice, the outcome will be evident. The APC is prepared for any challenge, and with God’s help, we will ensure President Tinubu’s return in 2027,” he stated.
The governor reiterated his previous commitment to secure more than one million votes for President Tinubu in Jigawa State, calling the goal achievable given the extent of APC’s backing throughout the region.
He stated that the large number of party members who participated in the primary election demonstrated the trust Nigerians, especially those from Jigawa, place in the APC-led government.
“As you can observe, a significant number of people turned up for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This clearly shows the public’s trust in him and the APC,” Namadi stated.
He observed that the calm organization of the initial election further highlighted President Tinubu’s dedication to democratic principles and intra-party democracy.
“The key factor is internal democracy. The President permitted the democratic process to operate freely, which demonstrates that he is a genuine democrat dedicated to the development of democracy in Nigeria,” he said.
The governor also foretold success for the APC across all levels in the 2027 elections, stating that the results of the primary election had already conveyed a clear message to rival parties.
“The outcome is obvious. By God’s favor, 2027 will be a straightforward victory for APC since the public has trust in the party and the administration,” he said.
Namadi praised members of the APC in Jigawa State for maintaining peaceful conduct during the process and encouraged them to start mobilizing before the general election.
