Former President Park Geun-hye, known as the “Queen of Elections,” is scheduled to visit the campaign office of Lee Jang-woo, the People Power Party’s candidate for mayor of Daejeon, on the afternoon of the 25th to express her backing. Her trip to an area outside Daegu is uncommon.

As reported by political sources on the 24th, Park intends to visit Lee’s campaign office in Seo-gu, Daejeon, on the 25th to show his support. A representative from the political circle stated, “This is aimed at strengthening Lee, who has stayed committed throughout.” Lee, considered a supporter of Park, had opposed Park’s impeachment in 2016 while serving as a legislator.

Prior to traveling to Daejeon, Park will go to the hometown of her late mother, former First Lady Yuk Young-soo, located in Okcheon, North Chungcheong Province. Several members of the People Power Party, including Kim Young-hwan, the candidate for governor of North Chungcheong, Jeon Sang-in, the Okcheon county mayor candidate, and Representative Park Duk-hyum, are anticipated to join her.

Previously, on the 23rd, Park went to Chilseong Market in Buk-gu, Daegu, to support Choo Kyung-ho, the People Power Party’s candidate for mayor of Daegu. This was her first in-person campaign event in nine years since her removal from office in 2017.

Dressed in an orange shirt and jeans, Park spent approximately 30 minutes welcoming people at the market. Hundreds of locals and supporters assembled, shouting, “President Park Geun-hye.” Park showed backing for Choo, saying, “I think Choo will develop effective policies.”

Park stated, “I’ve heard many people express, ‘I wish I could see or meet her once.’” When questioned about whether she intended to meet Kim Boo-kyum, the Daegu mayor candidate, she did not provide a clear response.

With Park during the event were Choo, together with officials from the People Power Party, including Lee In-seon, head of the Daegu City Party Committee, and Representatives Joo Ho-young, Kim Seung-su, Kwon Young-chul, Kim Ki-woong, Choi Eun-seok, Woo Jae-jun, and Yoo Young-ha.
