Parris Campbell is stepping away from the NFL at just 28 years old, theDallas Cowboys have revealed.

The wideout, who secured theSuper Bowl with the Philadelphia EaglesIn the 2024 season, he was moved to the reserve/retired list by the Cowboys before the 2026 season.

Campbell had an outstanding college career at Ohio State, securing the College Football Playoff national title in 2015 and receiving First Team All-Big Ten recognition after recording 90 receptions for 1,063 yards and a conference-high 12 touchdowns three years later.

But after he was chosen in the second round of the 2019 Draft by theIndianapolis Colts, the native of Ohio had a challenging first three seasons in the major leagues due to several injuries, including a torn MCL and PCL during the early part of the 2020 season.

He made only 15 appearances during his first three seasons in the NFL, but then played in all 17 games for the Colts in 2022, recording 63 catches for 623 yards and three touchdowns.

Campbell signed a one-year, $4.7 million deal with theNew York Giantsin 2023, he recorded just 20 receptions for 104 yards across three starts and 12 games with the team.

He subsequently joined the Eagles in 2024 and secured a Super Bowl ring following their decisive win against the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans, even though he ended the season with only six receptions.

The receiver signed with the Cowboys last year but played in just one game, as his reduced playing time appeared to prompt him to retire two months short of his 29th birthday.

“It’s not simple, but that’s part of the job,” Campbell said to The New York Post during his challenges with the Giants in 2023.

The predictable statement is, “You know what you’re getting when you sign up,” which holds true. However, there are always unexpected situations you never imagined — and staying inactive and not playing is definitely one of them.

Campbell has not yet formally declared his retirement, even though the Cowboys added him to their reserve/retired list this week.
