_________________The incoming Vice President, Jessica Alupo, and the newly appointed Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, are set to receive parliamentary approval on Thursday, May 28, at 2:00 pm.The two leaders were re-elected to their respective roles by President Yoweri Museveni as part of the recently revealed government team.

As per a statement shared with Members of Parliament by the Clerk of Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, the approval process will follow Article 108(2) of the Constitution, which states that the Vice President and Prime Minister are appointed by the President with Parliament’s approval through a simple majority.

The session will be led by the newly elected Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oboth Oboth, representing one of the initial significant tasks of the 12th Parliament.

Alupo and Nabbanja are both poised to start their second term in their significant positions. They were initially approved by the 11th Parliament on June 14, 2021, during a session led by the late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, who died after serving for approximately one and a half years in his role.

After receiving approval, the two leaders are set to take their inauguration oath during the weekend at State House Entebbe, prior to formally beginning their roles.

The House is also anticipated to assign members to the Standing Committee on Appointments following Rule 165 of the Procedure Rules.

It is the committee, led by the Speaker, that will start reviewing ministers who were appointed on May 26, 2026.
