Everything or nothing

So Tuesday evening is thetop State of Play of the year, and I really hope it’s something worth getting excited about and not just 40 minutes ofWolverineand then any third party advertisementsSonypersuaded individuals to finance.

It might indeed turn out that way, and I’m ready for it, but I’ll remain more positive and suggest that Sony understands that people aren’t satisfied and is gearing up for major reveals. However, I’m not convinced that a God Of War spin-off featuring Kratos’ deceased wife and a rebranded Fairgame$ will be sufficient.

I’m hoping it’s a strong one and we see a few elements that haven’t been leaked or speculated on, offering something entirely unexpected. I don’t know if that will occur, but that’s what I aim for during each presentation.

Chopper

Premium Bond

Include me in the group of individuals who are highly impressed by007 First Light. I hadn’t planned on getting it until I read the reviews, and even then, I didn’t expect it to be this good, but it has completely exceeded my expectations.

Every aspect of Bond is executed exceptionally well, something I wouldn’t have believed possible, featuring an enjoyable main character, numerous clichés that are not exaggerated, and Bond remains a womanizer—yet in a non-creepy manner. He utilizes gadgets, but they aren’t the sole solution to every problem, and even the driving sequences are well done.

But you could still overlook all that since it’s an excellent third-person action game, featuring incredibly impressive hand-to-hand combat and shooting mechanics, which I hadn’t anticipated. Then there’s the stealth elements, some enjoyable boss fights, and a lot of variety. I suppose any game will struggle to compete with GTA 6 this year in terms of awards, but this one is easily my game of the year so far.

Symbel

Ally-oops

I’m genuinely surprised that Xbox is still moving forward with the ROG Ally… whatever it’s silly name is, I’m not going to look it up. I can only assume the number of owners must be in the dozens by now, so what’s the point?

That new oneis definitely set to be a huge success or even bigger, and that’s incredible. So you can sit there with a handheld device, wearing AR glasses to utilize it effectively?

I’m worried this supports the idea that consoles are now only designed for the wealthy. It’s unlikely the Xbox handheld was created with the general public in mind, and I believe Project Helix will likely follow the same pattern.

It will be released when it is completed.

Am I the only one who dislikes early access? I saw thereview of Subnautica 2and became very excited, as I wasn’t aware it had been released, but then I realized it was only available for the early access version, and the game won’t be released until next year or later.

In my opinion, a game should be launched only when it’s fully completed and not even a second earlier. I genuinely fail to understand why these high-budget games require early access. If you’re an independent developer, then perhaps you aren’t certain how the game will be received, but for a major company, it’s likely already been tested extensively with focus groups.

They’re simply attempting to collect money upfront. You don’t hire a contractor and then they suggest doing a small part, checking your reaction, and returning after two years. Well, okay… perhaps that was a poor example!

Smoke and mirrors

I don’t understand this ‘controversy’ about havingPlayStation or Switch symbols at the Xbox presentation. If some fans have buried their heads in the sand so deeply that they can’t recognize the Xbox as a dead console without exclusive titles, they need a reality check.

I understand, it’s difficult to come to terms with the end of an era, but Microsoft’s cooperation with them and acting as if better times will return is simply heartless. Giving them the advantage of the doubt, they might be trying to convince themselves too, but there’s no scenario where Xbox returns to having exclusives for anything beyondindie games, and even then it likely won’t occur often.

The new Xbox leader is attempting to win over fans, and I appreciate the effort, but she hasn’t actually accomplished anything so far, nor has she made any commitments that we could hold her to. It’s just about creating an image, and it’s somewhat disappointing.

Three hardware guesses

My assumption about what’s happening with the next generation is that thePlayStation 6will be postponed until 2028, at the earliest. I don’t believe it will be scrapped, as thePlayStation 5It is a profitable venture for Sony, but I believe they will realize that releasing it now and charging £800, or any similar amount, is not a wise decision.

It’s better to wait until the memory shortage passes and set a reasonable price, as everything is functioning well right now and no one is eager for a PlayStation 6 just yet.

The only issue is how can you be certain the memory crisis will ever conclude? Even if they construct as many AI data centers as possible, once built, they will likely choose to upgrade the initial ones, leading to an endless cycle.

Regarding Xbox, I believe the price will deter them less, as they appear to be targeting only dedicated fans. This implies they will purchase it regardless, but it also suggests that it doesn’t really matter since it wasn’t a serious competitor from the start.

For Nintendo, which often appears to be overlooked in such discussions, I believe their best approach would be to expedite the release of the Switch 2 Lite. Considering Nintendo’s tendencies, they might end up launching it later than the original Switch, but in theory, releasing it now would make more sense, as it is less expensive and likely cheaper for Nintendo to produce as well.

The authorities consistently interfere

As much as I would be pleased if they completely prohibited Roblox, I believe thatstopping communication for kidsis highly significant. However, I have absolutely no confidence that this government will take action. It will likely involve plenty of discussion and inquiries, after which they will conclude that inaction is ultimately the simplest choice for them.

I’m not taking a political stance; it would be the same regardless of who was in power. Politicians often lack understanding when it comes to technology and consistently make incorrect choices. This is especially true regarding games.

Bander

Split decision

Anyone else kind of curious about what the Xbox Series S version of GTA 6 will look like? I don’t own an S, but, you know, after theBaldur’s Gate 3 hoo-ha, I can’t stop thinking about how it will function. Or even, how it will appear and perform.

Speaking of the Series S, I understand the original concept, which was to be so inexpensive that PlayStation 5 owners would purchase one, and that would be the start of winning over PlayStation users, and so on. It was an intriguing idea! It appears to have been a failed one.

I somewhat wished a less powerful second console from the start had faded away — just considering the additional burden on developers — but it appears the PlayStation 6 will come with a handheld version as strong as a PlayStation 5.

Doesn’t this split the audience? I’m not an economist, but that doesn’t seem smart. It complicates things for people trying to recognize the benefits and improvements of upgrading. It’s not surprising that PlayStation is reaching out to PlayStation 4 users via email to encourage an upgrade.

Perhaps I’m just a frustrated Millennial who believes this generation and the next are somewhat limited by a lowest common denominator. I miss the era of impressive generational advancements, such as from GameCube to Xbox 360.

That’s likely the correct response here.

GCWe won’t assume anything about the PlayStation portable until Sony officially announces it. And that’s if it hasn’t been canceled because of the memory shortage.

Slightly hopeful about the Rayman Legends remake. It isn’t necessary, but if it brings more players to the game, that’s great, as it’s one of my top choices.

Hearing some rumors about a new Marvel vs. Capcom game for one of the showcases this week. I don’t buy it, but I still hope it’s true!Focus
