A 20-year-old woman has been detained by the Katsina State Police Command for reportedly murdering her 97-year-old grandmother within the Daura Local Government Area.
As per the police report, the event took place around 7:00 p.m. on June 12, 2026, when a dispute allegedly arose between the suspect and her father’s mother.
Police inquiries found that during the conflict, the suspect is said to have hit the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair, causing severe injuries.
The injured individual was discovered lying in a pool of blood as law enforcement officers arrived at the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station following a call made by the suspect’s father.

She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for care, but the treating physician later confirmed her death.
A representative from the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that the suspect was taken into custody during the inquiry and reportedly admitted to the crime.
He stated that the suspect is still in police custody and will face legal charges once the investigation is completed.
The directive promised inhabitants that fairness would be achieved and committed to updating the public on additional progress in the matter.
