A 70-year-old man suffered severe injuries when an outdoor air conditioning unit exploded in a warehouse connected to a home on Ganghwa Island, Incheon.

As reported by the Incheon Fire Department on the 22nd, the explosion took place approximately at 5:02 p.m. the day before at a storage facility of a single-family residence in Hwado-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon.

The property owner, Mr. A, suffered significant damage to his head and knee.

Designating Mr. A as a critical injury patient, fire officials evacuated him to a medical facility using a rescue helicopter. There was no fire caused by the explosion.

The fire department is looking into the specific reason behind the incident, relying on accounts from local residents who stated that “an air conditioner technician was adding gas to the outdoor unit in the warehouse at that moment.”
