It’s that time of the year once more – thetransfer windowis now open until September 1, and it is expected to be a hectic time with clubs aiming to secure major transfers before the upcoming season.

Here are the most recent updates from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team today…

Everton complete George deal

Evertonhave finalized the permanent transfer ofEnglandYoung international forward Tyrique George fromChelseafor an unknown amount, thought to be £18 million along with £6 million in incentives.

The cost is considered to be a £6m decrease from the initial fee that Chelsea imposed on George’s transfer clause when he joined on loan in January.

The forward has agreed to a four-year deal with the Toffees, extending until the end of June 2030, after spending the latter part of the 2025/26 season on loan at the team.

George’s recruitment comes after Hayden Hackney joined from Middlesbrough, and Merlin Rohi has finalized his permanent transfer to Everton following a loan spell from SC Freiburg.

Everton are still looking to sign a right-back and also another forward and midfielder.

They are among the teams interested in Karl Darlow, with Coventry seeking reserve goalkeeper Mark Travers, while they might still rekindle discussions with Manchester City regarding Jack Grealish if an agreement can be made.

Having pledged his long-term prospects to the Blues, George said to evertonfc.com: ‘I enjoyed my spell here on loan last season, so as soon as I realized it was an option to come back, that’s always been my desire.’

George, who was born in London, made 11 appearances for Everton during the previous season, following his loan signing on the final day of the winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old started his football journey at Chelsea, moving to the west London club when he was eight years old.

Tonali expresses gratitude to Newcastle supporters following his move to Spurs

Sandro Tonali has shown a heartfelt acknowledgment to Newcastle supporters following his £100m transfer to Tottenham.

Tonali joined Newcastle in 2023 but was unable to play much during his initial season in English football after receiving a 10-month ban related to gambling, and later came back to form part of the strong midfield group alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, which played a key role in helping Eddie Howe’s team win the League Cup in 2025.

Tonali stated: “Three years ago, I arrived in Newcastle without much idea of what to anticipate. Now it’s time to part ways, and it’s challenging to express the right feelings.”

Primarily, I wish to address the fans directly. During my toughest moments, you were present. I never felt isolated for a single day. I experienced that support each time I was at St James’ Park. That is something I will cherish throughout my life.
