The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation stated on July 10 that it was awarded the top honor in the ESG management category at the “2026 Korea Environmental Awards.”
The Korean Environmental Awards are a prestigious recognition within the environmental field, given to public entities, businesses, groups, and individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental protection and the advancement of sustainable societal growth.
The foundation said, “We received recognition for accomplishments including creating a sustainable management system, conserving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, encouraging resource recycling, and implementing carbon neutrality through sports.”
In particular, the foundation has been concentrating on sustainable practices aligned with an internationally recognized environmental and energy management system.
Especially, it actively encourages carbon neutrality initiatives associated with sports enterprises, adapted to its specific organizational features. Notable examples are using bioenergy from forestry waste inside the Olympic Park and creating environmentally friendly electric motorboats for water-based sports.
A representative from the foundation stated, “This outcome reflects the collective efforts of all staff in embracing carbon neutrality,” and mentioned, “We remain committed to driving the development of a sustainable sports atmosphere.”
