• A man from Perth crashed his car into a vehicle belonging to an innocent nurse.

A father has re-experienced the moment he discovered his daughter covered in blood following a brutal attack by her boyfriend, who later crashed his vehicle into a nurse, resulting in both of them dying in a fiery explosion.

Perthman Keith Mitton, 42, violently assaulted his partner Sarah with a kitchen knife in her father’s bathroom in Exeter,Tasmania, last Friday.

He left the location in a blue Skoda rental vehicle that the couple had booked when they arrived together with her two daughters to visit her parents in Tasmania four days prior.

He entered the opposing lane on West Tamar Highway near Legana, close to Launceston, and collided directly with the vehicle of Elaine Gee, a 39-year-old mother of two, resulting in both of their deaths.

On Friday, Sarah’s father Adrian shared shocking new information with the Daily Mail about Mitton’s violent assault on his daughter, who is in her 40s.

He mentioned he had come back after quickly stepping out to locate his daughter, who was covered in blood and holding her face, with no indication of Mitton or the Skoda rental vehicle.

It’s hard to understand,” he said. “Initially, I believed he had just hit her a little. I didn’t realize immediately that he had stabbed her.

He disclosed that Mitton had taken a knife from the kitchen prior to facing Sarah in the bathroom and initiating his violent assault.

He verified that she had “serious facial injuries” following reports from individuals close to Sarah, who stated that Mitton had “cut at her nose and ear.”

“When I returned home, there was blood scattered around, and she was calling triple-0,” he stated.

Sarah was taken to the hospital, where it is believed that medical staff discovered her injuries had miraculously avoided critical organs.

Her father was scheduled to visit his daughter at the hospital in Launceston on Friday and mentioned that she has since been transferred from the ICU to a regular ward as she recovers from the incident.

Sarah and Mitton had been residing at Adrian’s house in Exeter, having traveled from Western Australia with Sarah’s two children on July 21.

It had been previously reported that Sarah, who resided in Perth, was attempting to flee from Mitton due to issues in their relationship, but Adrian stated that they had intended to embark on the journey together.

He mentioned that their relationship had lasted “a little more than six months” — and was significant enough for her to wish to present him to her Tasmanian relatives.

Adrian had never met Mitton, a welder from Lansdale in Perth, and knew very little about him, but stated there were no indications of his violent temper.

He verified that Sarah’s children were present in the house at the time their mother was stabbed, but mentioned that they did not see the incident firsthand.

“One was in the bedroom, while the other was in the living room,” Sarah’s father mentioned.

Adrian mentioned that his granddaughters were coping well following the distressing incident, and he too was managing through it.

“Children are quite strong,” he added.

A GoFundMeSarah was established by a family friend and local state MP named Jess Greene, who has already raised over $24,000.

“The community appears to be supporting us and Sarah,” said her father.

The GoFundMe campaign has collected a significant amount of funds. The family has received strong support from the community.

Sarah’s daughters are currently being looked after by her sister and brother-in-law, Coby and Adam Gore, in Gravelly Beach.

“The girls once resided in Tasmania with Coby and Adam, so they are going back to individuals they know, love, and trust, as well as a home where they have already felt cared for, stable, and part of a family,” said Ms. Greene.

Her grandmother also resides with the family, offering an additional source of warmth and affection.

Ms. Greene mentioned that the funds collected would be used to assist the children, covering expenses such as education and therapy.

“Additional funds will also help Sarah with medical, rehabilitation, and living costs while she recovers and starts rebuilding her life,” she stated.

Via Ms. Greene, the family expressed their anguish over Sarah’s injuries, as well as the passing of Ms. Gee, with the two families having been acquainted before the incident.

A statement said, ‘Two families have been transformed forever, children have faced unimaginable suffering, and the wider community is stunned and mourning.’

As a family, we recognize the deep sorrow experienced by the Gee family, along with Elaine’s friends and coworkers.

Nothing can ease their sorrow, and they continue to be strong in our minds.

Ms. Gee had served as a nurse in the area for two decades and was heading home from Launceston Hospital when Mitton drove his Skoda into her Nissan Navara.

It is reported that Mitton kept fuel drums in his car as part of his discarded scheme to set Adrian’s house on fire following an attack on Sarah.

Mitton died immediately in the huge explosion, visible for kilometers.

Ms Gee was rushed to hospital where doctors battled to save her, but police confirmed her death on Sunday. 

“Elaine spent two days battling for her life in the hospital, but unfortunately her injuries were too serious, and the family had to say their last farewell,” said Lisa Gibson, a friend of the Gees.

Ms. Gee leaves behind her husband, Rodney, who was her high school boyfriend, along with two sons, aged six and ten.

“There are no witty expressions for it,” remarked Mr. Gee.

The whole scenario is entirely unacceptable… and there is no doubt that this is the worst day in our family’s history.

A GoFundMe Ms. Gee’s family has collected $223,000, which includes a $10,000 contribution from an unknown donor.

Her funeral is scheduled for August 7 at the Tailrace Centre in Riverside, located north of Launceston, and it will be available via live stream.

Her family requested that attendees donate blood in her memory instead of sending flowers.
