Manchester UnitedIt has been reported that they have identified Jorge Salinas as their ‘plan B’ in case they fail to secure a transfer for Newcastle’s Lewis Hall.

Central midfield was pinpointed as United’s top focus as the summer transfer window approached, and the Red Devils have tackled the evident vulnerability by bringing inAndrey Santosand Youri Tielemans joining Michael Carrick’s group.

But the attention has rapidly turned to other sectors requiring new energy, and it is recognized that United’s management have prioritized Newcastle andEnglandStar Hall at the top of their desired list for left-back.

Hall has established himself as one of the most in-demand young full-backs inPremier Leaguefootball in the last three years at Newcastle – and hisexclusion from Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup team took many by surprise.

Eddie Howe’s recent exit from St James’ Parkhas only increased the likelihood that players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Hall might soon take similar actions, as competing teams are watching closely.

It is reported that Hall has emerged as a player of genuine significance for the red side of Manchester andthe individual player is thought to be ‘enthusiastic’ about the prospect of joining Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, Newcastle show no urgency in selling Hall, and it would probably take a bid surpassing £50 million to entice the English international to leave the northeast.

According to Spanish newspaper SPORT, United have had to search the market for other options in case Newcastle prevent their transfer for Hall – and Racing Santander’s Salinas has become a possibility.

It is said that United are ‘very serious’ regarding Salinas and see the 19-year-old as their ‘plan B’ at left-back this summer.

However, although the Red Devils are ready to meet Salinas’ €16m (£13.7m) release clause with Racing Santander, the report indicates that the young player is ‘focusing on’ a move to Barcelona.

The Spanish champions are targeting Salinas as they get ready for Joao Cancelo’s upcoming move toSaudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

Barca’s attempt to sign Salinas has faced delays in recent weeks, which has enabled United to enter the race for the full-back.

Manchester United have been closely monitoring Salinas for a while and were particularly impressed by his play during this summer’s European Under-19 Championship, where Spain came out as winners.

Although young, United officials are certain Salinas would be able to start training withMichael Carrickhis first-team right away and is prepared to fight for a spot withLuke Shawat the Stadium of Dreams.

Salinas’ present agreement with Racing Santander will not conclude until June 2029.

The young athlete made his senior debut for Racing Santander in 2024 and has since played in 37 matches across all competitions, contributing seven assists.

He played a key part last season as his childhood team secured the Segunda Division title, bringing La Liga football back to them for the first time since their relegation in 2012.

For now, Hall is still United’s top priority for this position – and former Newcastle and England midfielderJermaine Jenas thinks it would be a ‘great move’ for the left-back position.

“I believe it’s a fantastic decision for him, I truly do,” Jenas, who was with Newcastle for three years, said10bet.

He’s had an amazing couple of years at Newcastle. I believe he was clearly a big fan of Newcastle United after moving there fromChelseaand so forth, but he is one of those athletes that people observed and remarked that he likely belongs at theWorld Cup.

As I mentioned, he’s had a strong, consistent year; his progress from year to year continues to improve steadily.

A club such as Manchester United showing interest in him is a significant move in the right direction—not just for United, as he consistently performs well every week, but it’s also a major loss for Newcastle, I won’t deny that.
