A journalist and political strategist named Christopher Armitage voiced his frustration on Monday regarding a “highly illegal action” reportedly carried out by former Attorney General Pam Bondi, and mentioned that holding her responsible was “just one subpoena away.”

The action in question was Bondi’ssalesecurities of Trump Media in April 2025 – transactions she conducted just “hours” prior to Trump’s declaration of his so-called reciprocal tariffs, which promptly “dropped the stock she had just sold,” Armitage stated in ananalysisreleased on Monday via his Substack, The Existentialist Republic.

As per Armitage, Bondi sold securities worth up to $5.5 million related to Trump media, and as of August, 14 months following the event, no investigation has been initiated against Bondi for insider trading.

“Martha Stewart served time in a federal prison for an issue less significant than this. Her case stemmed from a stock transaction valued at $45,673,” Armitage wrote.

In December 2001, she sold her ImClone shares just one day before unfavorable information about the company was made public. In 2004, the government found her guilty, not for the stock transaction itself, but for providing false information to investigators who questioned her regarding it. She spent five months in prison. Stewart was not an average individual; she was wealthy, well-known, and had significant connections, yet none of these factors prevented the prosecution.

Bondi’s disclosure documents record her sale ofas high as $5.5 millionvalue of Trump’s securities, but only mention a general range of the number of shares sold and the date of the sale. As stated by Armitage, other significant details about the sale could be uncovered with one legal action.

Her disclosure form notes the date of the sale and nothing more. It does not include the time, the price, or her knowledge,” Armitage wrote. “Broker execution records provide the first two details, and these two pieces of information serve as proof of the third. A single subpoena could obtain them. The federal government has not issued such a subpoena.

Additionally, government officials are also able to investigate Bondi’s stock transactions for signs of insider trading, a method that could bypass possible resistance from the Trump administration, according to Armitage.

New York State is still able to impose this,” he wrote. “No pardon can prevent it, no attorney general can dismiss it.
