The UK tour of Trainspotting The Musical has been called off because of low ticket sales, causing the cast to feel ‘devastated’

The show, adapted from the popular novel by Irvine Welsh, which was later turned into a successful 1996 film featuring Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, and Robert Carlyle, was scheduled to tour cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Manchester following its opening at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket on July 15.

However, The play received unfavorable critiques,being labeled as ‘shocking’ and ‘unmemorable’.

It will now take place in London in September.

Theatregoers who had purchased ticketsRefunds are now available for future performances.

A source added to The Sunthat the actors have been made aware of the choice and are ‘heartbroken’.

“The entire team involved in Trainspotting: The Musical is completely devastated,” they stated.

Scottish actor Robbie Scott portrays Mark Renton in the play, a heroin user in Edinburgh dealing with poverty, camaraderie, and addiction along with his troubled friends. He was expected to continue in the role for the tour.

He is joined by other Scottish actors including Sheridan Townsley as Sick Boy, Kieran Andrew as Spud, Frankie O’Connor as Begbie, Finlay Paul as Tommy, Rebecca McKinnis as Cathy Renton, Gordon Cooper as Davie Renton, Ashley J Russell as Colleen, Rosie Dignan as Alison, Yana Harris as Kelly, and Sophie Hutchinson as Lizzie.
