On the 3rd, a man in his 50s employed by a waste management company on Jeju passed away when his upper body became stuck in a metal scrap compactor.

As per the Jeju Fire and Safety Headquarters, a 119 alert was received approximately at 4:32 p.m. on the same day, indicating that an employee’s upper body was stuck in a scrap metal compressor at a waste management site in Hoecheon-dong, Jeju City.

Even though the fire department reached the location approximately 4:45 p.m., the worker had already been confirmed deceased.

Authorities are examining the specific reason behind the incident.
