A purported Xbox roadmap document has recently been leaked (via X/@eXtas1s), which is said to detail the release schedule of theDisc-to-Digital feature as well as the backward compatibility roadmap for Xbox.

Disc-to-Digital option launches this month as per the leaked Xbox schedule

According to the document, the Disc-to-Digital feature is anticipated to be available to the public in August 2026. This feature is said to allow Xbox One and Xbox Series X users with compatible systems to access a digital version once they insert a supported physical disc. The leak suggests that the digital access is linked to the original disc rather than being a permanent digital purchase. As a result, transferring the disc to someone else would also grant them access.

Interestingly, some sections of the leaked roadmap correspond to recent developments. Microsoft released four original Xbox games for PC and portable devices on July 22, aligning with a specific goal mentioned in the document.

Regarding what’s coming next, the roadmap also mentions October 2026 as the planned date for the expanded PC release of original Xbox backward compatibility via the Xbox Store and Game Pass.

Xbox 360 titles are said to be released at a later date

The most unexpected development occurs towards the conclusion of the plan.

The paper states that support for Xbox 360 games will start being introduced between 2027 and 2028 on “next-generation Xbox consoles.”

That phrasing provides ample scope for different understandings. It does not explicitly state Windows PCs. It might instead point to upcoming Xbox consoles, portable devices, or various Xbox systems.

To date, Microsoft has not commented on the leaked roadmap. As is the case with all previous leaks, we advise you to approach this information with caution.
