Jung Chung-rae, a contender in the Democratic Party of Korea’s leadership race, criticized Kim Min-seok on the 4th, saying, “If you can’t explain the reason for questioning Shincheonji, you should apologize first.”
Jung posted on Facebook that day, “How much longer will you keep leading the party toward destruction while acting indifferent?” He further stated, “Do not recklessly ‘keep your mouth closed’; offer an immediate apology.”
The group associated with Jung released a statement that day, saying, “We have initiated legal proceedings against media organizations, YouTubers, and others who published or shared misleading information aimed at affecting the party’s primary election concerning a particular religion and specific people, facing charges such as spreading false information publicly, defaming through untrue statements, and making false accusations.”
The group of Jung said, “Jung has repeatedly emphasized that the assertion of a hidden alliance between anti-name factionalism and Shincheonji is a blatant breach, and if no proof is discovered during immediate examination, strict punishment should be enforced.”
Jung also noted on that day, “An organization cannot withstand the wind,” and continued, “Just as Roh Moo-hyun’s wind overpowered Lee In-je’s organization, may Jung Chung-rae’s wind overcome Kim Min-seok’s organization.”
