Pakistan, August 5 — Pakistani civil and military authorities expressed firm support for the residents of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, vowing ongoing diplomatic, political, and moral assistance. Senior officials also called on the global community to take a more proactive approach in resolving the long-standing Kashmir issue and fostering peace.

President Asif Ali Zardari honored the strength of the Kashmiri population and reasserted Pakistan’s dedication to backing their right to decide their own future. He mentioned that the events of August 5, 2019, aimed to alter the contested status of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Pakistan will keep bringing up the Kashmir matter in global gatherings, while emphasizing that enduring peace in South Asia relies on its peaceful settlement.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the Kashmir issue continues to be a significant factor for peace and stability in the region. He voiced worry about limitations on civil rights and press freedom in the area, and called on the global community to promote a peaceful resolution. The prime minister also confirmed that Pakistan will keep providing diplomatic, political, and moral backing to the people of Kashmir.

The military leadership of Pakistan, comprising Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, expressed full support for the Kashmiri population. In a statement released via the Inter-Services Public Relations, the military forces stated their commitment to backing the Kashmiris’ right to self-governance and emphasized that enduring peace in the region depends on a fair settlement of the conflict according to United Nations resolutions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, reaffirmed Pakistan’s backing for the Kashmiris. Dar mentioned that Pakistan will keep bringing up the Kashmir matter in global platforms, while Aleem Khan referred to August 5 as a sorrowful moment in history and emphasized that Pakistan will remain by the side of the Kashmiri people, supporting their internationally acknowledged right to self-governance.
