Thailand became the top Asian location sought by European tourists during the summer, as the nation faced reduced demand from its usual nearby markets, according to a report from the online travel company Agoda.

Indonesia came in second place, with Japan, Vietnam, and Malaysia following, according to Agoda’s lodging search statistics from April 1 to June 30, 2026, for bookings between July 1 and August 31.

The amount of European travelers coming to Thailand has been increasing even amid worldwide instability caused by the Middle East conflict.

Long-haul routes, especially those to Europe, experienced continued growth, aided by new air connections, such as the Amsterdam–Suvarnabhumi route,Khaosod English news site reported.

With extreme heat affecting daily activities in many parts of Europe, Thailand is stepping up its initiatives to draw more European visitors by highlighting its rainy season as a cooler and more budget-friendly option.

Tourism officials are emphasizing reduced lodging and travel offers, along with unique promotions in collaboration with airlines and travel agencies. The initiative aims to aid Thailand’s tourism revival and motivate European visitors to opt for the nation as a destination for extended visits and seasonal getaways.Bangkok Post reported.

Thailand received 18.5 million foreign tourists during the first seven months of the year, representing a 3.19% drop compared to the previous year, due to safety issues and limited flight availability from India.
