Anthony Albanese‘s wife, Jodie Haydon, has spoken openly about her challenges with perimenopause and social media in a rare public statement last week.

Haydon, 48, who married Albanese, 63, in November, unexpectedly appeared as a guest speaker at a local women’s health luncheon.Melbourne‘s south on Saturday.

Attendee Bronwyn White shared on social media her appreciation for Ms. Haydon’s sincerity and friendly demeanor.

“She sat down and, within roughly four minutes, shared with a group of women she had never met that she is 48 and going through perimenopause,” Ms. White said.

She spoke about her weight fluctuating over the years, something that happens to most people.

Haydon also disclosed that she has largely removed herself from social media to avoid reading others’ comments about her. She also provided information about her morning routine and her perspective on wellness.

“And as we were all present to discuss wellness, she informed us that her version involves a glass of wine and a proper catch-up with her friends,” said Ms. White.

Ms. White remarked, “She emphasized the importance of being more compassionate towards ourselves and others.”

And the progress women have achieved must be protected, as sexism is increasing and our voices need to remain strong.

To be honest, it felt more like being in someone’s kitchen with a group of girlfriends than giving a speech.

By Tuesday morning, Ms. White’s post had received over 4,600 likes, with numerous comments expressing that people had often wondered how Haydon looks in real life.

The occasion represented Haydon’s initial public speaking appearance, with his regular full-time position being that of Head of Strategic Partnerships at Teachers Mutual Bank.

She received an invitation to join the lunch organized by the Louisa Dunkley Women’s Network, a collective established by the late Peta Murphy and currently managed by federal Labor MP Jodie Belyea.

Although she has led a fairly private life since connecting with Albanese in 2020, Haydon has also taken on responsibilities with the Prime Minister, participating in state banquets, international conferences, and even the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

She mentioned to the Australian Women’s Weekly in 2025 that she felt honored for preserving her individuality beyond the spotlight.

“I have my own career journey, along with my own sense of self and goals,” she stated.

I remain employed full-time and my employer has shown great support. While at work, I am just Jodie, not the partner of the Prime Minister.
