President Lee Jae Myung took a commemorative photo with Michelle Steel (left), the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, and her husband, attorney Shawn Steel (right), during a credential presentation ceremony for newly appointed foreign ambassadors at Cheong Wa Dae on the 12th. After the ceremony, during an informal conversation, Ambassador Steel told a Korean-English interpreter from Cheong Wa Dae, “Since I speak Korean, you can talk in Korean.” President Lee then said, “With your husband here, is that okay?” When President Lee added, “Since you speak Korean well, the interpreter must be nervous,” Ambassador Steel replied to the interpreter, “Don’t be nervous,” and the light-hearted exchange continued, as reported by Cheong Wa Dae.
