Individuals who put their lives on the line during the rescue mission following the Z-9 military helicopter crash are now facing a postponed hiring procedure, as nine out of the 15 selected applicants did not pass the required medical examinations.

The Member of Parliament for Akrofuom, Joseph Azumah, discussed the issue in an interview on Shaft FM, based in Obuasi, as he responded to increasing dissatisfaction among the volunteers, who had started to feel neglected following assurances that their courage would be recognized with opportunities.security service recruitment.

On August 19, 2026report byAsaase Radio, Azumah swiftly explained the details of the agreement, emphasizing that no formal contract was ever established between the volunteers and any governmental organization.

“When the unfortunate event took place, no one supported each other. It was not an agreement. It was selfless effort, and this is a part of Ghanaian tradition,” he stated.

He stated that it was exactly due to their selfless actions that officials eventually decided to put their names forward for evaluation.

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, later assured that volunteers who fulfilled the criteria would be integrated into the security forces.

9 out of 15 recruiters did not pass the medical examination

As part of the procedure, 15 of the participants were sent to Kumasi for health checkups.

Once the results were released, only six applicants were approved to move forward.

“When the results were released, six of the 15 individuals passed. The remaining ones were found to have Hepatitis B, scars, amputations, and Hepatitis C. And the report is available,” Azumah said.

For individuals who didn’t satisfy the medical criteria, the MP stated they were not being left behind.

Among the options available are appointing a relative in their stead for security employment or completing a second medical assessment in Accra.

Azumah mentioned that steps are being taken to link the remaining volunteers with additional livelihood assistance, and he added, “I ask them to remain patient while I work on settling them.”

The MP verified that the volunteers were scheduled to head to Accra on August 24 to keep moving forward with the process.
