Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed delivered a sharp critique of his Republican opponent, Mike Rogers, during an appearance on Fox News. His attack was so intense that even conservative host Jesse Watters acknowledged it as “funny.”

“I have many topics to discuss regarding my work in supporting communities,” El-Sayed stated, referring to his Senate campaign against an opponent who is supported by former President Donald Trump.

I’m excited to keep having those discussions, and I’m confident in my ability to unite communities and defeat Mike Rogers, whom you and I both agree is a weak candidate who hasn’t appeared on your show or debated me, in November.

Watters, chuckling, replied: “I didn’t consent to that, but it’s amusing.”

As mentioned by Martin Pengelly of Zeteo in ananalysisreleased on Tuesday, El-Sayed caused Watters to laugh multiple times by referring to Rogers as a “beta” for steering clear of campaign debates and not appearing on Watters’ program.

Pengelly credited the joke landing with the conservative host to El-Sayed using a “frat-boy-like edge” in his commentary, a point also mentioned by a CNN panel on Tuesday morning, which highlighted the “unusual chemistrybetween the conservative and the progressive.

El-Sayed has frequently criticized Rogers for declining to engage him in a debate, including discussions that were scheduled to take place on Michigan-based TV channels Fox 2 and WDIV.

“Mike, I’m delighted to defeat you on October 8th, but just so you know, I’ve issued you a challenge for five debates,” El-Sayed stated recently.statementI have agreed to all the debate invitations.
