San Francisco Giants’ Lee Jung-hoo recorded his 11th stolen base of the season, a personal best since joining MLB (Major League Baseball).
Lee Jung-hoo, batting fifth as the right fielder in the Giants’ home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on the 29th, went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and one stolen base. His season batting average remained at .289 (134 hits in 464 at-bats).
Returning to the starting lineup after a three-day absence due to being hit by a pitch, Lee led off the second inning against left-handed starter Cole Drake and singled up the middle. He immediately stole second base, surpassing his previous season high of 10 stolen bases (set last year and earlier this season) to reach 11.
Lee later advanced to third on a groundout by Shay Whitcomb and scored on Turner Hill’s sacrifice fly to right field, giving the Giants a 2-1 lead. He grounded out in the fourth and struck out looking in the fifth. With the Giants trailing 5-10 in the eighth inning, Lee drew a walk with one out. He stole second base on a pitcher’s wild pickoff throw and reached third on an infield error by the shortstop. He scored on Turner Hill’s groundout, narrowing the deficit to 6-10. However, the Giants failed to rally further and lost 6-10, dropping to 55-80 on the season. They remained in fourth place in the five-team National League West.
Atlanta Braves’ Kim Ha-seong went 0-for-3 with a hit by pitch in the game against the Colorado Rockies. His season batting average fell to .084 (7 hits in 83 at-bats).
Kim, who recorded a game-ending hit as a pinch-hitter on the 27th against the Los Angeles Dodgers and went 1-for-3 as a starter on the 28th against Colorado, extended his on-base streak to three games. The Braves secured a 6-4 victory, improving to 80-55 and maintaining their lead in the National League East.
