Go Woo-suk, 28 years old, who played in the U.S. Major League and Minor League, has returned to his former team LG.
The professional baseball team LG announced on the 2nd, “We have completed the player registration after signing a one-year contract with Go Woo-suk at an annual salary of 500 million Korean won,” adding, “Since (Go Woo-suk) returned during the season, he will receive 150 million Korean won for the remaining three months of the season.”
Go Woo-suk entered the U.S. stage in late 2023 by signing a two-year contract worth up to 9.4 million dollars with the MLB’s San Diego Padres through the posting system. However, he struggled to secure a stable position on the team and wandered through several clubs, including the Miami Marlins and Detroit Tigers, over the years. This year, as a member of the Minnesota Twins, he finally stepped onto the long-awaited Major League stage but was recently released. After failing to receive offers from other teams, he decided to return to Korea.
Go Woo-suk stated, “I am grateful to the fans who have passionately supported me, whether I was in Korea or the U.S.,” and added, “I will do my best to pitch for the team’s victory in the remaining games.” However, since domestic players must complete player registration by July 31 to participate in the postseason, Go Woo-suk is unlikely to join the fall baseball season. LG plans to utilize Go Woo-suk as a key reliever starting from the game on the 3rd.
