A fire broke out on a fishing vessel operating off the coast of Jeju.

According to the Jeju Regional Coast Guard and others, on the morning of October 8 around 8:37 a.m., a report was received that a fire had occurred on a 40-ton class trawl fishing vessel (Yeosu-flagged) with seven crew members aboard, approximately 41 kilometers southwest of Marado.

After receiving the report, the coast guard dispatched patrol vessels to confirm the situation and found no casualties as of now. It was reported that the crew initially suppressed the fire, which originated in the engine room, though smoke continued to emanate.

The coast guard plans to investigate the cause of the fire at the scene, including interviews with the captain.
