Police investigating suspicions related to Moomin Park in Uiwang City, Gyeonggi Province, conducted a search and seizure of the residence and office of Uiwang Mayor Kim Seong-je on the 8th.

The National Police Agency’s 3rd Special Counsel Handover Case Investigation Team stated that the search began at 8 a.m. on the same day. The investigation pertains to the installation of Moomin Park facilities worth 2 billion Korean won within the Baekun Valley urban development project area.

The special counsel team that investigated former first lady Kim Keon-hee had been probing suspicions that Jeon Seong-bae, a shaman also known as Geonjin, received money in exchange for brokering the Moomin Park project. After the special counsel’s activities concluded, the police took over the case.

Earlier, the special counsel determined that Jeon introduced Mayor Kim to the content company Conlab Company and received a total of 160 million Korean won under the pretext of brokering requests related to the project, including the creation of Moomin Park. Jeon was sentenced to five years in prison in July under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes for charges including receiving bribes in exchange for brokering.
