The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has conveyed the Nigeria Police Force’s condolences to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) following a devastating aircraft crash involving a NAF 931 aircraft that claimed 25 lives.

Disu conveyed the Force’s sympathies on Friday, October 9, 2026, during a condolence visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirming the police institution’s solidarity with the Air Force in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The visit, according to an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, was an expression of support for the Air Force leadership, its officers and personnel, as well as the families grieving the loss of their loved ones in the crash.

During the meeting, the police chief conveyed the collective sympathy of the Nigeria Police Force, acknowledging the pain and sorrow occasioned by the loss of personnel in the incident.

He also offered prayers for comfort and fortitude for the bereaved families, colleagues and associates of the deceased as they come to terms with the tragedy.

Beyond the immediate expression of condolences, Disu reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining strong bonds with sister security agencies, particularly in moments of grief arising from the loss of personnel in the course of duty.

The IGP’s message underscored the importance of inter-agency solidarity and mutual support among Nigeria’s security institutions, especially when confronted with circumstances that leave families, colleagues and entire organisations mourning their fallen personnel.

The statement further reaffirmed that the police remained firmly in solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force as it mourned those who died in the crash, while recognising the service and sacrifice of the personnel whose lives were lost in the tragic incident.
