CHIBA — Chiba Prefectural Police have suspended the Vietnamese-language written driver’s license test after discovering the test questions had been leaked, the force announced Oct. 13.

According to the prefectural police, staff at the Chiba Driver’s License Center in the city of Chiba found a 29-year-old Vietnamese woman taking photos of the blackboard with her smartphone after a standard motorcycle license test on Oct. 13.

When staff checked the woman’s phone, they found images of the Vietnamese-language driver’s exam questions saved on it. The woman reportedly told police, “I used ChatGPT to look for the questions.”

Written test questions are randomly selected from multiple patterns, and taking pictures at the test site is prohibited. Prefectural police suspect that someone else may have photographed the test questions on another day and provided the images to the woman.

The suspension on the Vietnamese-language written test will remain in place until further notice.
