U.S. President Donald Trump on the 18th cited ‘immigrant acceptance’ as the cause of violent protests in France, including arson and looting, and argued for the need to control borders. Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social, “France is burning” and “Immigrants from a completely different world who harbor hatred in their hearts have shattered the once-great country.” Trump and other Trump administration officials have previously warned that Europe’s immigration and border policies could lead to the ‘extinction of civilization.’
In France, high school students’ protests against poor educational environments have continued for the fourth week. On the previous weekend, a large number of workers and citizens took to the streets to protest high prices and high oil costs, leading to intense clashes between protesters and police in major cities, including the capital Paris. Cars and stores in the city center were burned and looted, and in Limoges, a small city in the southwest, the city hall building collapsed after being set on fire by protesters. Trump argued, “Borders must be closed and control must be taken before it’s too late.”
Vice President J D Vance also shared a video of the Limoges city hall fire on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “I hope this madness will stop before more landmarks in the beautiful country of France are burned.” He continued, “Under the names of diversity and compassion, Western liberals have imported the Third World into France and other countries. They ignored fundamental questions about assimilation and compatibility. We said this would lead to such consequences, but they didn’t listen.” Vance added, “This is exactly the future that Congressional Democrats are pursuing. I hope Americans are paying attention.”
Meanwhile, in another post on the same day, Trump sent a message of support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, nine days ahead of the Israeli election (October 27). He said, “He was a great warrior prime minister and a greater partner for peace in fighting Iran. If Israel had the wrong leader instead of Bibi, I would have to do it myself, and I don’t want to do that. I hope this letter shows my full support for Netanyahu’s re-election in the upcoming Israeli election.”
