Park Jie-won, Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker, said on the 21st regarding recent controversies involving Democratic Party officials, “I agree with the diagnosis that the Democratic Party has become loose. Kim Min-seok, the party leader, must reflect and make a fresh start.”

Rep. Park stated on MBC Radio that day, “The Democratic Party and Kim Min-seok can only survive if he demonstrates leadership that tightens this situation,” adding, “Only when the leader abandons everything and steers the party back on the right path can President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating rise. No matter how well this president performs, how can his approval rating increase if the party continues to act like a loose screw?”

Rep. Park also emphasized the need for party-level disciplinary action regarding the recent “straw controversy” over fire service finances raised by Choo Mi-ae, Gyeonggi Governor, and Rep. Boo Seung-chan. He said, “Governor Choo and Rep. Boo made a blunder by insisting that fire service budgets transferred to local governments should be returned to the central government budget,” adding, “The party should have at least issued a light disciplinary action or warning to Governor Choo from the beginning, and Rep. Boo must also be disciplined for his mistake.”

Rep. Park also criticized Kim Min-seok for causing excessive protocol controversy by joining a singer on stage during a performance at a recent local festival. He said, “Even if politicians attend singing competitions, they should have basic manners not to interrupt performers. Climbing on stage while a singer is performing is excessive protocol.”

He concluded, “The public judges based on attitude rather than logic. Kim Min-seok must reflect and make a fresh start starting today.”
