Mercedes-Benz is introducing the high-end minivan ‘V-Class’ to the South Korean market for the first time. The model targets demand for family travel, leisure, and corporate protocol/business vehicles. With Japanese brands like Toyota Alphard·Sienna, Lexus LM, and Honda Odyssey dominating the domestic imported minivan market, Mercedes-Benz’s entry is expected to intensify competition.
Mercedes-Benz Korea announced that it will begin accepting pre-orders for the V-Class on the 21st and start customer deliveries in November. The model will be released domestically as a single variant, the ‘V 300d 4MATIC Exclusive,’ priced at 124 million Korean won (based on a 5% individual consumption tax). The V-Class, first introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1996 as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), is widely used overseas for family and leisure purposes as well as high-end protocol vehicles.
The domestic model is equipped with a 237-horsepower engine and a four-wheel-drive system. Mercedes-Benz Korea explained, “It is the only MPV sold in South Korea to feature AIRMATIC suspension.” This system adjusts the vehicle’s height and movement based on road conditions and driving situations using air pressure, enhancing ride comfort during long-distance travel. Detailed specifications, certified for the domestic market, will be disclosed at the time of customer delivery.
The interior focuses on the comfort of rear-seat passengers. The second row features luxury seats, and both the first and second rows include heated and ventilated functions. The vehicle also includes a 12.3-inch screen, infotainment system, and a parking package with a 360-degree camera. The trunk door is designed to allow only the rear window to be opened separately without opening the entire trunk, making it easier to load and unload small items. Pre-order customers will receive unlimited access to the ‘Mercedes-Benz Airport Service’ for airport users. The basic warranty period is also extended by one year.
