Apple, which intends to launch its initial foldable iPhone screen this autumn, is also exploring a vertically folding smartphone as a subsequent product, according to a report by Bloomberg on the 1st.
Bloomberg stated, “Apple is exploring a more compact, foldable version compared to the foldable iPhone it intends to launch in the latter part of the year.” Samsung Electronics has introduced foldable phones in two designs: the Galaxy Fold series, which folds horizontally, and the Galaxy Z Flip series, which folds vertically. Apple is reportedly planning a range of devices in similar configurations.
The iPhone Flip is anticipated to feature a reduced production cost compared to the iPhone Fold, aiming to offer both functionality and affordability through the use of advanced technology. Nevertheless, the launch of the flip-style foldable phone is likely to rely on the market performance of the initial foldable iPhone. According to Bloomberg, “Although there is no certainty that a vertically folding iPhone will hit the market, Apple thinks consumers will desire foldable phones in different forms and dimensions.”

Apple is said to have paused the previously mentioned initiative for a foldable iPad and is now exploring the possibility of launching a foldable iPhone with a somewhat bigger display.
The first iPhone with a foldable design, anticipated to launch this autumn, is rumored to feature a screen that opens outward, offering an internal display of 7.8 inches and an external screen of 5.5 inches. The battery size is projected to surpass 5,500mAh, according to recent reports from the Apple-oriented website MacRumors.
