Vice President JD Vance stunned critics on Tuesday with his team’s actionsquickly removed a social media updatein which he referred to the 1915 Armenian killings as a “genocide,” asserting that it was published “by mistake” due to overly eager employees.

The uncomfortable deletion occurred following Vance and his wife, Usha, placing wreaths at the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan. Vance’s official X account referred to the visit as intended to “honor the victims of the 1915 Armenian genocide.” The post disappeared shortly after, and a spokesperson for Vance claimed the account was “run by staff,” attributing the mistake to employees who were not part of the traveling group.
