The Netflix animated movie “KPop Demon Hunters,” which created a worldwide sensation, has received the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Award after securing Golden Globe and Grammy victories.

As per the PGA’s official website, on the 2nd, Michelle Wong, the producer of “KPop Demon Hunters,” was named the winner of the Best Theatrical Motion Picture Producer Award for Animated Features at the 37th PGA Awards held in Los Angeles (LA) last month on the 28th.

On the same day, Adam Somner, the producer of “One Battle After Another,” was awarded the prestigious title of Best Theatrical Motion Picture Producer for Live Action, while “The Pitt” took home the prize in the TV Drama category and “The Studio” in the TV Comedy category.

The PGA Awards, which take place shortly before the Academy Awards—the top film event in the United States—are considered a sign of potential Oscar victories. This has generated excitement that “KPop Demon Hunters” might also win at the 98th Academy Awards on the 15th of this month.

“KPop Demon Hunters” is a musical animated series focusing on the renowned girl group “HUNTR/X,” who safeguard the human realm from demonic threats. The plot traces HUNTR/X as they vie for fame against the boy group “Saja Boys,” hailing from the demon world, while revealing their real identities.

“KPop Demon Hunters” overtook “Squid Game” to claim the title of Netflix’s most successful film, and it demonstrated its widespread appeal by topping global music charts like Billboard with its featured tracks.

Previously, the movie received the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song awards at the Golden Globe Awards in January. At last month’s Grammy Awards, it made history as the first K-pop work to win an award. It has been nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards and is also among the finalists for Best Original Song in the “Golden” category.
