- MORE: Tiger Woods’ ‘desperate’ approach to making a comeback in golf has been disclosed
Bryson DeChambeau is said to have discussed the possibility of departing from LIV Golf duringthe Masters, with the American reportedly seeking up to $500 million to remain with the struggling independent group.
The outlook for LIV and its dissidents became uncertain last week following claims that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) might end its costly endeavor.
Senior tour officials were called to an urgent meeting, as several representatives revealed to the Daily Mail that they remained unaware of whether the contentious project—into which the PIF has invested nearly $6 billion since 2022—was facing potential cancellation due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The head of LIV, Scott O’Neil, stated that his league has financial support until the end of the current season, but the continuation beyond the next few months remains unclear, as does DeChambeau’s future after 2026.
The American is in the last season of his contract and, according to The Athletic, DeChambeau and his team spent part of Masters week meeting with golf officials to discuss his possibilities – if he decides to leave LIV.
DeChambeau departed from the PGA Tour under a four-and-a-half-year contract valued at approximately $125 million, and it is believed he aims to secure up to $500 million for a new agreement.

Reports about DeChambeau’s requests came to light following multiple prominent departures from LIV, as both Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka have returned to the PGA Tour.
DeChambeau had the chance to switch teams earlier this year as well, via the Returning Member Program, but is said to have turned it down.
The Athletic reports that DeChambeau, who is already among the most well-known personalities in golf, even referenced his thriving YouTube channel while discussing terms with potential partners.
A 32-year-old has gained over 2.5 million subscribers due to his videos, which feature challenges with President Donald Trump (17 million views) and John Daly (10 million views).
DeChambeau has previously indicated he might transition into a full-time YouTuber, with the American reportedly expressing in recent discussions that he is willing to focus solely on creating content and then competing in golf’s four major tournaments.
DeChambeau was observed talking to O’Neil during LIV Golf’s latest gathering in Mexico City, and there is reportedly ‘hope’ within the rebel group that DeChambeau will remain.
However, according to The Athletic, there is also a “clear acknowledgment” that the era of issuing contracts that ensure hundreds of millions of dollars is ending.
DeChambeau failed to qualify for the Masters and later pulled out of the final round of LIV’s tournament in Mexico, due to a wrist injury.
